Art, reception & ring give-away
Hillcrest Designer Jewelry will be holding its 1st Annual September Showcase 5 - 9 p.m. September 1 - 3.
It will showcase the new works of Eric Coleman, owner of Hillcrest Designer Jewelry, as well as local artists Kelley Naylor Wise, Billy Hicks, Raylene Finkbeiner, Carroll Hertzfeld, Christy Bournes, Judy and Jeff Goodwin, Kathlene Kennally, Janet Alexander, Dana Burke, Larry Pennington, Carol Robby and others.
A reception will be held 5 - 9 p.m. September 2.
That night, Mr. Coleman will be giving away one of his custom-made pieces, a positively gorgeous rare fine moss agate ring set in hand-cast sterling silver and set off by sapphires. It is a $400 value. Be sure and put your name in the hat for the drawing.
When one of the featured artists, Mrs. Finkbeiner, retired from teaching elementary school after thirty-five years, she was excited to finally have the time to pursue her passion for painting, Eric said in a press release.
"As a member of the Perry County Arts League and the North Central Arkansas Art League, she became active and began weekly lessons in oil and acrylic painting.
"Her father was a commercial artist for a large movie production company, but his daughter, Raylene, couldn't draw a straight line. She went to several workshops in watercolor and found that straight lines were not needed. In fact, they were to be avoided This was the medium that offered her the freedom of expression she had been seeking."
During the past three years, she has received several first and second place awards locally and nationally for her work. Her watercolors are in private collections in Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas. She exhibits at several galleries around the state - and now in Little Rock at Hillcrest Designer Jewelry. The shop is located at 3000 Kavanaugh Blvd., Suite E. 246-3655.
